About Me
Hi, I’m Monica Bhattacharya—an artist, a commerce graduate, and someone who once earned a postgraduate diploma in marketing but found my true passion in art! My love for colors and creativity steered me away from joining the corporate world and into a life filled with paint, texture, and endless imagination. Though I don’t have a formal art degree, I’ve been fortunate to learn from some of the best, making me “well taught” rather than self-taught. I live in Texas with my incredibly supportive family—my husband and two amazing kids—who cheer me on in all my creative pursuits. For me, art is more than just painting; it’s a language, an ever-evolving journey where I love to experiment, mix the rational with the intuitive, and create pieces that are both unique and meaningful.
My work is a reflection of my roots and my experiences - vibrant, rich in texture, and deeply connected to nature, culture, and spirituality. My Indian heritage finds its way into my art organically, whether through intricate folk art influences, bold colors, or the rhythmic symmetry of mandalas. Mandalas, in particular, are more than just patterns to me; they are a meditative process, a way to find balance while doing what I love.
I love pushing boundaries by blending traditional art forms with modern techniques, allowing my work to transcend time and cultural barriers. Whether it’s the flow of a brushstroke, the layers of color that build depth, or the fine details that bring a piece to life, every creation carries a part of me - my stories, my inspirations, and my passion for artistic expression.
Beyond creating, I find immense fulfillment in teaching. I believe that talent and technique are meant to be shared, not just acquired. Whether guiding young minds or helping adults rediscover their creative side, I am deeply committed to passing on whatever knowledge I have. The joy of art is something that should be experienced across generations, ensuring that creativity continues to flourish.
Since 2020, my work has been exhibited in numerous galleries across the Dallas-Fort Worth area, earning recognition, including several “Best in Show” awards. Every exhibition, every accolade, and every piece I create is a testament to the journey I have embraced—one of passion, resilience, and an ever-growing love for art.
